Well I know it’s very funny, but the actual thing is while creating this blog and optimizing it for keyword “Sourav Ganguly” I’m really confused, where to start and how far I have to go…
Well let’s take some key phrase…

But I failed to get my blog appear in 1st 3 SERP's for any of the above keywords. I’m really confused with my name (Sourav Ganguly). When ever I think of optimizing my blog for Sourav Ganguly I found it’s very tough, as millions of info is already their on Google. How does Google will make out that this is not Sourav Ganguly the cricketer but it’s me Sourav Ganguly an Internet marketing person. I think in my entire life the competition of SERP rank would with my name only. I can work for many clients with some tough keywords but when it comes to my own name then I think I’m useless.
Any comment of any reader would be greatly appreciated.

Google Search Info - US Searches Share Hit 70.77%

Each month at Hitwise we release the share of searches by each of the major search engines to measure the impact upon the search landscape. The report tends to tell a similar story each month in terms of the ranking by share of searches, but for July (the four weeks ending July 26, 2008); Google reached a new milestone and accounted for 70.77 percent of all U.S. searches. Google’s share of searches increased 10% over the same month last year and 2% over the previous month. Yahoo! Search, MSN Search (including Live.com), and Ask followed with 18.65%, 5.36%, and 3.53% share of searches, respectively.

At least some of the growth in searches can be attributed to the growing share of visits to Google. Looking back over the past 13 months, in addition to the growing share of searches, traffic to Google has continued to increase. The market share of visits to Google in July increased 25% over July 2007 and has grown each month since January in 2008. Retention of this increased traffic is also coming into play as Google has maintained a consistent returning visitor rate (visitors who have visited the website within a 30 day period) of 95% each month since October 2007
This is not revolutionary information but even can’t be put aside. Each Month Hitwise releases the search share of most popular search engines. Last week of July 2008 Google has reached a new level 70.77% of all U.S. searches. Google searches made a boost of around 10% last year July, and around 2% growth over last month. Yahoo! Search, MSN (which includes live.com) & ask.com got 18.65%, 5.36%, and 3.53% share of searches, respectively.
Seeing the graph over the past 13 months the growth of search volume can be attributed with the Google lovers… Google share of searches has grown by 25% year to year (2007July till 2008 July) this is a huge hike in searches received by Google. Google has managed to keep a very high returning visitor rate on the same site of 95% (who has visited the site within 30 days time) since 2007 October.

Google PR Update July 28 2008
For last 2/3 weeks webmasters were restlessly waiting for next Google PageRank (PR). All anxiety came to an end when Matt Cutts announced PageRank revise on 24th July, 2008.
I should confess I was a fan of Google PR before I started working on SEO. But as days progressed, I realized that there is a bit of relation between high Page Rank and SERP position. I consider Page Rank as good for entertaining purpose only. But I always wait for Page Rank Update to see the changes in back links.
We all will be happy to see some improvement on Google Toolbar showing more Page Rank for some of your favorite pages, but that will not revise any of your search presence on SERP. This will built up gradually along with the time. SERP has a very less support from Page Rank.
I’m in process to get my 1st SEO project up. This is going to be a real fun for me to work with some SEO people who are in the industry for a long time, it’s really lovely that they are also taking my suggestions and helping me where ever I’m stuck.
